数词这部分的中考基础能力考点，就是必考不加e不变序考拼写。常见的加u加拼写错误有：

​第九：ninth没有e

​四十：forty不加u

​第二十等：twentieth 不是th，而是逢整eth。

因此，数词这部分的第英点第拼写考点，总结避错口诀​：

第九不加e，语说四十不加u，中考逢整十变序数词加eth

​注意：

九家族：只有第九有特殊说法，必考不加e不变序其余的加u加所有九就正常使用，比如19nineteen，逢整90ninety​

​四家族：只有四十有特殊说法，数词其余所有的第英点第四就正常使用，比如4four，14fourteen

（ ）1.—Hi, Jack!What about playing socer after school?

—I’d love to, but it's my grandfather's_____birthday and we will have a celebration.

A. ninetith B. ninetieth C. nintieth

答案：B。记住口诀即可：第九不加e，四十不加u，逢整十变序数词加eth。其中，只有第九不加e，第九十还是要加e的，因此ninety不能缺少e。逢整十变序数词加eth，不能错记成把y变i再加th。

—I am going to the old people's home to celebrate Mrs.Green's_____birthday.

答案：B。记住口诀即可：第九不加e，四十不加u，逢整十变序数词加eth。99的表达是90和9，90是ninety，必须有e，九是nine也有e，但第九就是ninth，而不是nineth。因此第99的表达法就是ninety-ninth，90这个基数词不变，9变成序数词第9。

答案：C。 记住口诀即可：第九不加e，四十不加u，逢整十变序数词加eth。第二十是twentieth，要把y变成i后加eth，而不是th。
